Purple Cow Organics - Project-Based Engagement

“There’s no such thing as a ‘merger’…”

Purple Cow Organics was a year into a “merger” and looking for organizational structure (and profitability)…

…Ryan came into the organization like a consultant assigned to the Operations division of the company, interviewed the team and learned about its key processes. What became evident were three things:

  1. There were very few documented processes and procedures (SOPs)

  2. Nearly all decisions, communication, and processes went through one of two people, which created bottlenecks and stress

  3. There were underutilized people buried within the organization due to imaginary politics (due to the “merge”.

Getting key processes documented so that newer, younger employees could execute at a high level allowed leadership to focus on sales and strategy. Promoting key employees into larger leadership roles provided more stability to the structure of the company as well.

“Ryan joined Purple Cow Organics at a highly chaotic time when there was a lot of work to be done internally to set up an efficient operating model, while building a culture of accountability in preparation for continuing to scale up the size of the operation. Ryan utilized his organizational skills to set us on a path that eventually lead to increasing our sales, improving the quality of our product lines, and improving operating efficiencies overall. Ryan additionally took charge of our Sales and Marketing efforts and was able to achieve the sales goals established inside of the budget parameters allowed. We are delivering products to a defined niche marketplace and it requires building relationships both internally and externally to be successful, and Ryan demonstrated his ability to do this.”
